More about Lakeshore Rush’s involvement in their community:
Lakeshore Rush is an integral part of the Chicago community, the city they call home. Over the past eight years the ensemble made appearances at the Chicago Symphony Center, WFMT – Chicago’s classical radio station, Ear Taxi Festival, Chicago Cultural Center, the PianoForte Foundation, Fulton Street Collective, Garfield Park Conservatory in partnership with the Honnold Foundation, Constellation, and the Thirsty Ears Festival – Chicago’s only classical music street festival.
Lakeshore Rush is an active member of New Music Chicago, and has commissioned several works by local established composers, including those by Jonathan Hannau, Amos Gillespie, Laura Schwendinger, Griffin Candey, Roger Zare, Kyong Mee Choi, Seth Boustead, and Beth Bradfish. In 2020, the ensemble premiered its first feature-length film score written by composer Seth Boustead, with the release of Chicago Film Project’s Dreaming Grand Avenue. This year, the ensemble commissioned and premiered the film Curved Silence by Alina Markina and Mario Bosca. This work is a cinematic music video of Lakeshore Rush performing Curved Silence by Beth Bradfish, featuring the City of Chicago as a narrative element in the film.
Lakeshore Rush maintains an ongoing relationship with the Merit School of Music by providing special educational programming for audiences aged 5 – 14, and has presented workshops at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Lawrence University. Much of this work was made possible through generous local support, including grants received by the Cliff Dwellers Arts Foundation, City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), and private donations. Lakeshore Rush NFP is a tax-exempt organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)3. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Please consider making a donation here!
The soundtrack album of the film Dreaming Grand Avenue was released Thursday, October 13, 2022, featuring original music by Seth Boustead and music performed by Lakeshore Rush and friends.

Moving Parts, our debut album, explores varied instrumentation within an ever-changing classical landscape, drawing from past performances of old and new classical music spiraled across seven seasons of live concerts and studio recordings.
Listen as we imitate the flurry and flutter of feathered pets with selections from Mason Bates' Life of Birds, the creaking of ropes, bites of cold, and twinkling of stars in Jonathan Hannau's Isolated Houses, and the mechanical jostle and jolt of modern flight in Villa Lobos' Jet Whistle.
Moving Parts is available today on Amazon, Apple Music, YouTube, and direct from Albany Records. Listen today!

We are excited to partner with the Honnold Foundation on behalf of this performance. The focus of this concert includes musical selections inspired by the environment, and for this reason we could think of no better organization to quite literally shine a solar-powered light on (or shall we say, play some tunes for) than the Honnold Foundation! As artists, we would like to give a nod to the Honnold Foundation for all of the important work they're doing around the world to fund solar power that will not only provide a brighter future, but will also help us find environmentally sound solutions towards ending global energy poverty. The Honnold Foundation routinely awards grants to community organizations whose projects are innovative and equity-focused and we believe in their work towards creating a world where all people have the ability to live in balance with the environment. It's an honor to perform this environmentally-inspired concert and we hope you'll head over to the Honnold Foundation website to learn more.
