We are excited to announce that Lakeshore Rush has been awarded a 2019 residency at Avaloch Farm Music Institute in New Hampshire. The institute provides a unique opportunity for chamber music ensembles to have the time and space to work intensively on repertoire, prepare for recordings, concerts or competitions, work with composers on commissions, and expand upon the groups musical identity.

Lakeshore Rush will be joined by special guests composer/saxophonist Amos Gillespie and percussionist Josh Graham in this exciting program that features works by midwestern composers.
Works will include Amos Gillespie's Spanish Speakers and These Questions Three; Philip Glass's Closing from Glassworks; David Lang's These Broken Wings; Gian Carlo Menotti's Trio for clarinet, violin, and piano; Bill Ryan's Blurred; and the Chicago premiere of Roger Zare's Zodiacal Light.

Many of our members of Lakeshore Rush had a great time recording the movie score by Seth Boustead to the upcoming film Dreaming Grand Avenue on Sunday, May 12.

You are invited to a big CD release concert at the Fulton Street Collective. The album, titled “Solo!”, consists of music performed by the Kaia String Quartet, Gillespie Chamber Quartet, Barkada Saxophone Quartet and many others. It’s a selection of Amos Gillespie’s chamber music that has been featured on WFMT, Ear Taxi Festival, North American Saxophone Alliance Conference and other venues. The Gillespie Quartet along with the Lakeshore Rush Ensemble will be playing works from the album and other music by Amos Gillespie, Slava Kazykin and David Lang. David DeBoor Canfield from Fanfare Magazine described the album as "Work that packs a sultry sort of wallop;" "Gillespie writes with a distinctive, individual compositional voice;" "Strongly recommended."

We're excited to hit the road together this summer! We'll begin our concert tour at Chicago's PianoForte Studios (Friday, June 8 at 8pm), then travel to Michigan to perform at the Charlevoix Circle of Arts (Tuesday, June 12 at 4pm). We'll round out our trip with a live performance on Blue Lake Public Radio (Friday, June 15).
Works include trios by Brahms, Debussy, and Muczynski, as well as duos including the Dutilleux Sonatine and Villa-Lobos Chôros No. 2.
Performances are free and open to the public. Donations accepted.
We are thrilled to collaborate this season with the Chicago Composers' Consortium! On Sunday, May 6 at 2:30pm we will perform the C3 score competition winners' composition (Amos Gillespie's Spanish Speakers), in addition to other great works by C3 member composers (Laura Schwendinger, Elizabeth Start, Kyong Mee Choi, Beth Bradfish, and Tim Edwards), at Roosevelt University's Ganz Hall.
