Garfield Park Conservatory: Sunlit

Our 2021-2022 Season will kick off with a performance at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago on Wednesday, September 29 at 6pm.

Each work featured connects to our natural world and environmental sustainability. We will give the world premiere of our composer-in-residence Amos Gillespie’s new commission for our ensemble, The Entertainment of Being.

Additional pieces include Griffin Candey’s Buckboard Charlie, Gillespie’s Sunlit, Missy Mazzoli’s Still Life with Avalanche, and Laura Schwendinger’s Until the Sunrise.

We are excited to partner with the Honnold Foundation on behalf of this performance. The focus of this concert includes musical selections inspired by the environment, and for this reason we could think of no better organization to quite literally shine a solar-powered light on (or shall we say, play some tunes for) than the Honnold Foundation! As artists, we would like to give a nod to the Honnold Foundation for all of the important work they're doing around the world to fund solar power that will not only provide a brighter future, but will also help us find environmentally sound solutions towards ending global energy poverty. The Honnold Foundation routinely awards grants to community organizations whose projects are innovative and equity-focused and we believe in their work towards creating a world where all people have the ability to live in balance with the environment. It's an honor to perform this environmentally-inspired concert and we hope you'll head over to the Honnold Foundation website to learn more.

ACM's Thirsty Ears Festival

We are excitedly looking forward to our first performance all together as an ensemble since the pandemic restricted our travel and in person collaboration!

Lakeshore Rush Recording Tour

We are ecstatic to announce the upcoming release of our first professional ensemble recording! This project is made possible in part by a generous grant from Oklahoma State University.

Northbrook Public Library

We look forward to performing a Virtual Classical Concert at the Northbrook Public Library on Sunday, January 24 at 3pm.

Program will include works by Maurice Ravel, Oliver Messiaen, Clara Schumann, Kevin Puts, Joseph Horovitz, and two works by Lakeshore Rush Composer-in-Residence Amos Gillespie, including a world premiere of his new work for solo saxophone.

PianoForte Studios: Nature's Palette

Lakeshore Rush will perform a concert titled “Nature’s Palette” at PianoForte Studios Chicago (1335 S. Michigan Ave.) at a TBD date due to COVID19.

Pieces will include Henri Dutilleux Sarabande et Cortege, Amos Gillespie Nature’s Palette and Musics, Missy Mazzoli Still Life with Avalanche, Marc Mellits Spam, and Astor Piazzolla Inverno and Otono.
Special guests: Amos Gillespie, composer and saxophone, and Gloria Yehilevsky, percussion.

Grant Awarded to Support Lakeshore Rush's Garfield Park Conservatory Concert

Lakeshore Rush is very excited to announce that our seeds have been planted for a special one night only concert at the gorgeous Garfield Park Conservatory, made possible by the generous support of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events! This new growth will be an exploration of the connection of music and the arts to the environment around us and the growing need for sustainability.  Selections will include works by Mason Bates, Bill Ryan, Christopher Cerrone, Astor Piazzolla, and a new commission by Lakeshore Rush Composer-in-Residence Amos Gillespie.  Stay tuned for more details, as we look forward to new safety guidelines for concerts and events.

This project is partially supported by an Individual Artist Program Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, as well as a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, a state agency through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.

We will perform on the Sunday Concert Series at the St. Charles Public Library on Sunday, January 12 at 2pm in the Carnegie Community Room.

Featuring compositions by Debussy, Glass, Jalbert, Mellits, and Menotti.

Lakeshore Rush at Avaloch Farm Music Institute

We are excited to announce that Lakeshore Rush has been awarded a 2019 residency at Avaloch Farm Music Institute in New Hampshire. The institute provides a unique opportunity for chamber music ensembles to have the time and space to work intensively on repertoire, prepare for recordings, concerts or competitions, work with composers on commissions, and expand upon the groups musical identity.

Movie Score Recording: Dreaming Grand Avenue

Many of our members of Lakeshore Rush had a great time recording the movie score by Seth Boustead to the upcoming film Dreaming Grand Avenue on Sunday, May 12.
